FIRST WALK-IN CLINICS IN ESTONIA
Estonia’s medical group Confido, has opened their first walk-in clinics at Nautica shopping centre and Lasnamäe Centrum, allowing everyone with urgent health concern access to get a paid appointment without reservation even in the evenings or on weekends.
Centre Manager at Capfield, Olga Allik believes that opening the walk-in clinics was very warmly welcomed by the visitors of shopping centres. “Creating such a service is a significant development for both the commercial and medical sectors,” Allik noted, and added that for the first time they had to register a health facility’s use in the building registry for the unique service provider.
Patients can access the walk-in clinics during the shopping mall hours from 9 am to 9 pm daily. Paid appointments can be made for patients on any family doctor’s list or even without a family doctor. The service is designed for adults as well as children. Reservations are not required to visit the clinics and patients are served live but prior booking is preferable to reduce waiting times.
A member of the board of Confido, Kadi Lambot said that the aim behind the creation of walk-in clinics is to make modern medical care more accessible to Estonian people. “Clinics with a unique concept in Europe, which are more flexible and remain on people’s daily trajectory, could also start to significantly reduce the burden on the Emergency Services.” Lambot hoped.
